About Blue Lime Eats

Hi, I’m Matt!

Welcome to my culinary haven!

I started this site as a place to keep recipes that were given to me by a lot of the special people in my family especially my mom, grandmothers and very special aunts in my family. I have managed to accumulate a few recipes of my own over the years, and I want this site to be a place for my child, nieces and nephews to get the recipes that come from their family as well.

My mother has always been an exceptional cook, but a few years ago, she battled cancer, which temporarily robbed her of her sense of taste. Like many in our families, she cooks by taste, using "a pinch of this and a dash of that." Recognizing that I share this same approach, I realized the importance of documenting measurements and recipes to preserve our culinary traditions, especially in case my taste or memory fades over time.

Years ago, as a history teacher, I observed that many of my students showed little interest in learning from textbooks. However, when I incorporated meals related to our topics of study, their curiosity sparked, and they started asking questions. I'm fascinated by how history enriches our understanding of food, revealing vibrant cultures often distinct from our own.

Nestled in the vibrant state of Florida, our gastronomic landscape is graced by the unique influences of the Gulf Coast, sculpted by its coastal essence. Florida is a true melting pot, with a myriad of global cultures that converge on our plates.

In the hustle and bustle of modern life, I also share tips on cooking efficiently for your family during the week, ensuring that the joy of creating delicious meals becomes an integral part of your daily routine.

Welcome and thank you for visiting!
