Mango Margarita

Mango Margarita

The Mango Margarita, as you might guess, is a modern variation of the original Margarita, adding mango to the mix. This version became especially popular in the 1990s and 2000s as the trend for tropical, fruit-infused cocktails exploded. The sweet, tropical flavor of mango pairs beautifully with the tangy lime and the richness of tequila, making the Mango Margarita a favorite in many bars, especially in beach resorts or places with warm climates.

Mango Margarita

This version became especially popular in the 90s and early 2000s as fresh fruit infused cocktails became popular.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups frozen mango chunks (fresh mango works too, but frozen gives a better texture)
  • 1/2 cup tequila (blanco or reposado)
  • 1/4 cup lime juice (freshly squeezed for best flavor)
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur (such as Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1 tablespoons simple syrup or agave nectar (optional, depending on your sweetness preference)
  • Lime wedges (for garnish)
  • Salt or sugar (for the rim, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glass:
  2. If you want a salted or sugared rim, rub a lime wedge around the edge of your glass, then dip it into a plate of salt or sugar. Set the glass aside.
  3. Blend the Margarita:
  4. In a blender, combine the frozen mango chunks, tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, simple syrup (if using), and ice. Blend until smooth and slushy. Add a little more ice or lime juice if the consistency is too thick, or blend longer if it's too runny.
  5. Taste and Adjust:
  6. Taste the mixture and adjust the sweetness or tartness as needed. If you want it sweeter, add a little more simple syrup or agave. If you like it more tart, add a little more lime juice.
  7. Serve:
  8. Pour the frozen Mango Margarita into your prepared glass, garnish with a lime wedge, and enjoy!
